A Star is Born
Ken Ness, a Non-destructive Testing equipment representative, creates North Star Imaging (NSI) to bring industrial X-ray testing to the Upper Midwest.

First Digital Radiography System
NSI builds its first Digital Radiography system and continues to expands its offerings across the USA throughout the 1990s.

2002
First Computed Tomography System
Building on its success of its Digital Radiography system, NSI manufactures its first Computed Tomography system.

2004
Bigger Leads to Better
With business booming, NSI quickly outgrows its St. Paul, MN, office and moves into a new facility in Rogers, MN.

2006
Inspection Services Group (ISG) Formed
Inspection Services Group was created to bring world-class service to our X-ray or Computed Tomography clients.

2009
Building Expansion
As demand for NSI grows, so does its need for more space. In 2009, NSI expands its Rogers, MN, complex by 33%.

2010
Illinois Tool Works (ITW) Acquisition
NSI acquired by ITW, a leading diversified manufacturing company, and becomes part of its Test and Measurement segment.

The Expansion Continues
NSI is an international success. Its Rogers, MN, complex once again doubles in size to better keep up with demand.

ISO 9001 Certification
NSI awarded with ISO 9001 certification as a result of its dedication to increase efficiency, reduce errors and enrich customer satisfaction.

California and UK Facilities Opened
To meet growing demand for its inspection services, NSI opens a new facility in Irvine, CA, and another in High Wycombe, UK.

China Facility Opened
To expand its offerings and strengthen relationships in Asia, NSI opens an office in Suzhou, China.

Massachusetts Facility Opened
NSI opens a new facility in Marlborough, MA, making this the 5th global facility.

Move to Make Room
NSI moves its California facility to a larger location in Aliso Viejo, CA, to accommodate its new high-energy X-ray system.

Florida Facility Opened
NSI opens a new facility in Orlando, FL making this the 6th global facility.
