Bruce Fouke is a professor of Geology and Integrative Biology, and an active member of the Carl. R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He also serves as Director of the Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center on the Illinois campus. His lab group of students, postdocs and research scientists work at the intersection of carbonate geology and molecular biology (GeobiologyAstrobiology and Biomineralization) on projects that range from energy exploration and recovery, to translational human medicine, environmental influences on adaptation and evolution in hot springs, ancient Roman aqueduct hydrology, meteor impacts and NASA space exploration.
