The October cover of the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing shows a failed windshield washer fluid pump with oxidized wiring.
Oxidization or rust prevents the windshield wiper’s motorized pressure pump from moving washer fluid from its reservoir to the hoses and nozzles that squirt the fluid onto the front and/or rear windscreen of a vehicle.
This standard computed tomography (CT) scan was done on a North Star Imaging X5000 system with 220kV.
CT scanning is a non-destructive approach to quality inspection. The process uses X-rays to produce three-dimensional representations of the scanned object – both internally and externally.
Key uses for CT scanning include failure analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), metrology, assembly analysis, porosity, void, crack and defect detection, reverse engineering, geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis.
North Star Imaging UK, located in High Wycombe, has the ability to demonstrate our digital radiography and computed tomography systems to potential buyers as well as provide immediate X-ray imaging services for companies wanting contract digital radiography or computed tomography imaging.
